In memory of the great late José “Pepe” Mujica. Uruguay’s former President, who passed away recently. In the portrait he is holding his adopted dog, Manuela. 

José “Pepe” Mujica, after spending several years in prison for fighting against the Uruguayan military dictatorship, became a key figure in implementing progressive reforms during his presidency. He is particularly known for policies like the decriminalization of abortion, the legalization of marijuana, and the legalization of same-sex marriage, as well as strengthening trade unions and raising minimum wages. He also gained recognition for his simple lifestyle and donation of a large portion of his presidential salary to charities.
