BORBOLETA
2D Animation
BORBOLETA is an animated story of a person freeing themselves from a portrait. The narative is parallel to the metamorphosis of a butterfly.
In the end, a sci-fi twist raises the questions: Is there really a possibility of freedom when the transformation happens only on an individual level? Can everybody experience feelings of freedom or even dream about it?

In this shortclip, anxiety is depictured with very little use of written words. The media is 2D animation, the music is hectic, the character is late and running against time. As their anxiety grows, reality starts to melt into a surreal place. This is illustrated trough the gradual abstraction of the spatial perspective and drawing technics.
